Section 8 of the AT begins at the NC/GA state line and heads north from Bly Gap for 7 miles to Deep Gap. Along the way it passes the Muskrat Creek Shelter.<br />

From Franklin take US highway 64 west toward Murphy. Look for the turnoff onto gravel forest service road 71 on the left just past Black Gap Rd.
